Buy Experiences, Not Things
Do you need to clean out your closet or garage? If so, then you already have too many things. Earning more money to buy more things won’t make you happier. You’ve already tossed some of your previously purchased “happiness” into the closet, right?
The best things in life aren’t things. So, do something different with your money. Instead of investing in something you can touch, invest in something you can feel: experiences.
“Happiness Creators” That You Can Have This Month
- Enjoy a white water rafting trip.
- Take a ride in a hot air balloon ride.
- Go for a special dinner in a limousine with your significant other.
- Drive some laps around the track in a race car.
- If you have a little extra cash, take a trip to Paris.
All of these experiences will leave you with memories that won’t get dusty in the closet.
Buy a product and the happiness eventually fades. Buy an experience and the happiness lasts a lifetime.
Start Owning More Experiences
Write down 10 events or places that you have always wanted to experience. This is a portion of your bucket list, things you want to do before you kick the bucket. They don’t have to be expensive events that require you to save up for years. Include experiences you can have this month and start planning to make them come to life.
Then, do what owning more things won’t let you do: enjoy the experience!
